14 - 19 Diplomas
Diplomas are a new qualification for 14-19 year olds that are available in schools, colleges and other education institutions.
By 2011 there will be 17 Diplomas, however one of the first diplomas to be offered was the Society, Health and Development (SHD) Diploma, which began teaching in September 2008.
The SHD Diploma lets students develop a sound knowledge base combined with the personal, learning and thinking skills that are transferable to employment and higher education. The Diplomas combine traditional learning with vocational placements and have been developed through consultation with employers, ensuring the qualification equips young people with the right skills they need to get on in work.
