Find out how CQC will assess care services in 2009/10
CQC's new report describes how we will assess health and adult social care services over the next year.

They will assess quality across the care sector as they move towards a single registration system for care providers in 2010.

Find out about CQC's special reviews and studies

CQC are responsible for a programme of special reviews and studies under the Health and Social Care Act (2008). Special reviews and studies are projects that look at themes in health and social care. They focus on services, pathways of care or groups of people.

The CQC Board has now agreed seven topics for our reviews and studies for 2009/10 following consultation.

New goes to get more people with learning disabilities into work

People with a learning disability will be helped into paid jobs to close the employment gap, Jonathan Shaw, Minister for Disabled People and Phil Hope, Minister for Care Services have pledged.

The goal is set out in the new cross-government Learning Disability Employment Strategy, published today. The strategy sets out a vision to increase the number of real jobs for people with learning disabilities with appropriate support being provided.

 

SCIE produce briefings on personalisation for home care providers and commissioners
SCIE has produced two short briefings aimed at home care providers and commissioners.  The publications summarise implications and include examples of new approaches being developed.

Joint commissioning framework for dementia

The National Dementia Strategy joint commissioning framework provides best practice guidance for commissioning dementia services. It includes a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment template, summary of NICE and SCIE evidence for dementia services, commissioning levers against each of the strategy's objectives and a summary of South East Coastal SHA dementia metrics.
