Cumbria provider development day - event report
21/4/2009

The voluntary sector gathered together on the 20th April at the picturesque Rheged Centre in Penrith to discuss the implications of the personalisation agenda.

The day was aimed at providers and began with an introduction to personalisation and a look at Cumbria's progress.  Martin Routledge talked delegates through Putting People First, as well as explaining the difference between self directed support, individual budgets and direct payments.

Inspirational real life stories came from Andy Hopley and Tina Hopley and Georgina Ternent.  Sally Percival and Alan Crone took delegates through support planning.  These presentations are not available online for confidentiality reasons.

After lunch Tom Hendrie outlined how people who use services can get involved. Alix Crawford and Peter Knock discussed the various publications available to assist providers with the transformation, including the "Getting Started" toolkits which you can download under the related materials section, to the right hand side of this page.
