Cheshire LRN - update for 2009/10

Skills for Care and the Cheshire Learning Resource Network (LRN) thought it would be helpful to issue a joint statement to clarify plans for the future of social care workforce development in the Cheshire sub region.

We appreciate that change is taking place at a rapid pace and sometimes these changes can create uncertainty. We hope the following information will help to confirm the plans that are in place.  The full information is contained in the statement below.

Since January, 2007, Skills for Care and the Cheshire LRN have enjoyed a hugely successful partnership. This has been achieved through a contract with Cheshire County Council for the provision of co-ordination and administration and agreement by the LRN to both manage and co-manage a range of contracts. This has been in line with the policy of investment across each of the sub regions in the North West.

Over this time, the Cheshire LRN has continued to grow and develop as an organisation in its own right. As such, Skills for Care and the LRN have agreed to end the current contractual arrangements on 31 March 2009 in favour of locally managed arrangements i.e. the LRN.

Skills for Care and the LRN are certain that this will have significant benefits for both organisations and partners and the are confident that the foundation built over recent years will ensure that each will continue to work closely on those activities which are shared priorities that effect the social care workforce.
