Good practice in social work education and training

Skills for Care and CWDC are holding a social work event which aims to identify and cascade good practice in education and training. This regional event, which is aimed at people involved in social work, will be held on:

23rd March 2010 at the Leyland Hotel (Best Western), Leyland

10.30am—3.30pm

Speakers will include:

  • Richard Jones, Director of Adult Services at Lancashire County Council
  • Andrew Webb, Corporate Director, Children and Young People at Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council
  • Sue White, Professor of Social Work at Lancaster University. Lancaster University were members of the Social Work Task Force
  • Bill McKitterick, Children' Services Advisor and British Association of Social Workers Council lead on the College of Social Work.

  • placing students with people who use services
  • personalisation
  • Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSW), Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and the Post Qualifying (PQ) award
  • quantity and quality in practice education
  • LeaRNS
  • practice educator framework: the pilot projects

Workshops can be chosen on the day of the event on a "first come, first choice" basis.

Venue accessibility 

  • Level access to the venue and all meeting rooms on ground floor
  • 4 disabled parking spaces
  • There are two ramps from the main room to the conference centre where workshops are being held
  • Two disabled toilets – one in the ladies and one communal
  • An induction loop can be hired if we are informed that one is needed
